A new RECORDING from em records
TOTAL COST: £10,500
AMOUNT RAISED: £5,137 | 48.9%
An exciting new recording of two works by figureheads of twentieth-century music will shortly be made for the pioneering label EM Records.

Percy Sherwood and Frederick Cowen were both hugely influential and respected composers in their day; but, since their deaths, their music has become increasingly overlooked.  This new recording seeks to redress this.  The Fifth Symphony of Cowen and the Concerto for Violin and Cello by Sherwood are full-blooded, romantic works whose emotional immediacy is supported by immaculate craftsmanship; and these World Première recordings will give music enthusiasts worldwide the opportunity to become reacquainted with these two composers.

On this website, you can read more about every aspect of the project: the lives and work of Sherwood and Cowen; the artists who will be presenting these pieces on the recording; and the recording itself.  As the project progresses, extra material will be posted: podcasts, videos and articles will provide fascinating glimpses ‘behind the scenes’ of preparation for the recording, whilst news and updates will be provided on a regular and frequent basis.
